, Ramesh Baria ditangkap Biro antikorupsi (ABC) karena diduga memeras petani.
Kasus yang terjadi pada 10 Juli itu bermula saat seorang petani menyimpan ratusan miras ilegal di rumahnya. Polisi kemudian menggeledah dan menyitanya untuk diajukan ke pengadilan.

Namun sang kepala desa datang ke petani nahas untuk menawarkan jasa “mediasi” dengan aparat.
Baria mendatanginya dan menawarkan bantuan untuk menutupi kasus tersebut.
“Ia diduga meminta uang sebesar Rs 50.000 dan mengklaim akan menjadi mediator untuk menyelesaikan masalah tersebut,” demikian laporan Times of India.
Tapi rupanya ada orang yang melaporkan perilaku kepala desa itu. Setelah melakukan verifikasi, ABC kemudian memasang jebakan dan menangkap Baria.
Kini lembaga antirasuah India itu sedang menyelidiki apakah ada pihak lain yang terlibat.
